I just purchased a Columbian Boa. This guy at this pet shop is amazing. I was talking to him and he had said he would order two of best snakes (in his opinion). I know it may seem to soon and a lot of responsibility for one who does not know too much about reptiles, but I'm learning and I'm learning fast. You guys have been a big help so far and I appreciate it very much. As for the price....he has offered $90. I thought that was amazing, specially since Louise quoted me $120. I will hopefully pick CRTB tomarrow. Once I pick him up I will post some pictures so you guys can tell me your opinion and if I made a good decision.

Adam you got a bargain, their £95 on average over here(about $170-180).
Just remember that most boa's need a higher humitity home then corns and columbians when young thrive best at around 80% humidity.
Can't wait to see pic's.

adam you have to realize that boas are way different then corns. you cant mess thier husbandry up. if you dont keep thier temps 88 hot side 78 cool side and a basking of 90 it will get a RI. baby boas cannot have medicine for RI like big boas. all you can do is raise thier heat and pray. you really need to start reading all the caresheets on them you can find and it is a must you get the book 'the boa constrictor manual' by philippe de vosjoli. in michigan humidity is very hard to get so i keep my boas on cyprus mulch and i mist it like 5 times a day. i keep thier humidity around 55-60. best i can do in michigan. dont ever feed them on the mulch! you have to treat the mulch befor your boa comes in contact with it.
i hope you dont run into problems. you need to learn alot about boas befor owning one. are you gonna be able to deal with a snake that gets 10-14 feet? do you know if it is male or female?
and for gods sake....please dont ever feed the boa anything that is alive. please. if you need any help at all please contact me. i dont care if you think it is a dumb question or not. there is no dumb questions.

we all know by now that RTB are my favorite i think they are a great snake to get...but only after lots of research. i forgot to tell you that boas need belly heat. you have to have an undertank heater. you have to let it get use to its new enviroment when you bring it home. dont bother it for a week. if you do it will stress. snakes stress is not like ours. stress kills snakes. boas have to have hide boxes. one on the cool side and one on the warm side. babys need water on the cool side and the warm side. they soak in the warm side and they drink the water on the cool side. boas wont drink warm water. i cant tell you everything you need to know in one day. i think you should research them and then and only then get one. i cant stress enough that they are not like corns!

Adam if your finding it hard to get resurch material let me know, i KNOW about 10 sites off the top of my head that give's excellant info, and i'm sure louise and others will know some more. Just ask and i'll happiley supply them, or even a boa's basic care that i can put together for you with specifics for the species of boa your getting.
All i ask is that you leave it 3-4 weeks before getting 1 for 3 reasons.
1) You can get used to your corn snake first and all the needs that a corn requires as any boa requires about 3-6 times more work depending on the sub species.
2)It will give a little time to think over what your getting into and resurce as much as possible.
3) Can you look after a boa for the next 40-50 years (depending again on sub species)? Also a corns average life span is around 15-20 years in captivaty but they can live to 30, are you ready for the life time commitment and responsability?
I'm not trying to put you off, honestley i'm not, i just want you to look at it in those terms then make a disicion.
What every YOU deside, i'll help out where i can and will always be here for future advice.
Good luck.
