I'm getting a royal in the next 2 weeks ive already got 2 corns and i was wondering if you take a royal out their viv to feed them like most people do with corns? I know they can be fussy eaters so i thought i'd ask. Thanx

I find it much easier to leave mine in their cages. One of mine won't eat out of his cage, the other probly would, but theres not much point. Both mine are on paper towel so i don't see the point in taking them out to feed them, really.

Yay, someone else getting a Royal ;D They are fantastic snakes! If possible its best to leave them in as like you said they can be fussy eaters and will eat best where they feel safe. Mine is still a baby and is on kitchen towel, but when hes moved to a full size viv I will more than likely just leave him on newspaper. They can go on fasts, but so far mine hasnt, and he is a really agressive feeder! If you need any more help just let us know as there are quite a few people with Royals on here i think

I feed mine in her viv, i have taken her out before but by the time ive got her out and got the mouse ready shes lost interest an is more stressed because she isn't in her normal environment! also if you have ever seen a royal in the dark at night they sit just in the entrance of there hide in strike position waiting for mice etc, this is why i feed only at night (usually) and in the dark, its natural instinct should kick in and it'l take the mouse! thats the best advice i can give, post if you need to know more and we will be glad to help

It might be me next although i doubt it. Parents can cause so much bother. I think i want a Ball python, Carpet python or rainbow boa. Well i want all of them and a BCI but one smallish snake is really all i can cope with at the moment. And I keep seeing other snakes that I like.

Awwww shrimply, rainbow boas don't get that big reeeeally. I love carpet pythons very much, but ya see I don't like getting bitten! At least when ball pythons fast they save you money on food?

id feed it in its vivarium tbh with kitchen towel or newspaper as a substrate how big is the royal you are getting? ........................... Amber:my carpet python and my hybrids have never been snappy towards me and if you got a sub adult JCP/IJ or coastal the juvenile snappy stage has past and you are guaranteed a tame snake that feeds well lee
