Hey guys well its coming up to the Essex show in July. I am 99.9% sure that if the right one is there will be buying a Royal.
I have read hundreds of care sheets & spoken to looooads of people, but there are a few things I havent asked as yet.
As it will only be a baby I will be housing in one of the secure plastics. I am goint to put the heat mat under 1 half of the tub. Do I need a stat to controll the tempreture ? I know I probably do but could someone point me in the right direction as to what kind ? i have looked up on it but its really confusing as to which one to get. Also, how do you attach it so it controlls the temp of the heat mat ?
next question is on humidity...I understand Royals have different needs regarding this..how do i achieve this ?
any help would be great.. look forward to hearing from you..
cheers ;D

hi... yes the plastic tub will be fine for your royal python...put a few hides in as royals are nervous beggars.... and yes a pulse thermostat or a matstat will be needed to control the temperature and they plug into mains and theres a socket on them in which you plug your mat into and set at the right temperature and you are well away plastic tubs sustain a certain amount of humidity in my experience and they shed better i find in them any other help ill be happy to help if i can

another quick question, I have 2 spare heat mats at home, but they were used for my 3ft vivs.. for a hatchling container i think im gonna need something smaller, what size heat mat shall I get...?? I am panicking now, I want everything to be perfect...I know I will be buying this stat.. www.cornishcrispa.co.uk/product_info.php?cPath=21_51&products_id=336But im now worried my container will be too big ? At the show in Essex on 7th July, there will obviously be breeders selling live stock, will there be tables with accessories like housing, heating & stats ? How do the prices work out?? I dont know what to do ! HELP !

the stat is perfect the mat you are using should be fine just make sire you only cover 1/3-1/2 of the hatchling tub if you are going to buy another mat www.cornishcrispa.co.uk/product_info.php?cPath=21_49_117&products_id=320 this one would be good at the shows the prices are definately cheaper than online stores etc ill be at that show so might see you there lol lee

thanks Lee..really appreciate your help..
do u put you mats on the underside of the housing, as I have just been told by someone that royals need ambient heat. and they end up curled up on the heat mat & get burnt.. ?? the lady that said this, will only use ceramic heaters with a pulse stat ..? this confused me even more as in all the months i have been reading up, no one has mentioned this ?
How do u get around this ? is there something that u put inbetween the heat mat & housing or do u put the mat on the side..?
also I like Cornish Crisp site, it has everything i need but i dont like the hatchling boxes so I will wait till the day to get one of these at the show.
Once again thanks for your help ;D

Ceramics are good but i only use them with larger viv's, say 4 by 2 by 2foot would be the minimum viv size i would use a ceramic with as they cover a large area of the viv. My 8 foot viv is ceramic heated, and on a 150watt ceramic this covers between a 4 and 5 foot area. Ceramics are good for basking, the floor temp of the 8 footer is 90-94 during the day, dropping to around 88 at night, and thats 18-20 inches below the ceramic heater face.

god its all mumble jumble to me.. If it is ok, i will stick to the heat mat, untill he/she is ready to move into a nice sized viv. Do I need to put anything between the mat & container to stop it burning the snake ?
