Same Old Royal Problem

Ive been given a royal to try and get feeding for a friend of mine because she has tried everything she can think of. He's not stupidly skinny yet but i could do with a few suggestions ive blacked out three sides of his viv and given him a box to hide in because its nice and dark for him.any suggestions would be awesome thanks a lot Will

Usuall advice, try feeding once a week only, if the snakes in the hide then leave the mouse/rat just at the opening of the hide, and leave over night. If the snakes out crusing, then try the "live" wiggle with tongs and see if the snake will strike and hold. If it strikes and releases then its a defenceise mechanism, if it strikes and holds, it mean the snakes hungrey and is eather getting ready to eat, or it will eat.

Also when I had trouble with mine when I got him, I heated up the mouses nose with a hairdryer.. he took it as soon as I offered it.. Another thing that worked well was turning off all the lights & leaving him in complete darkness about an hour before feeding. I placed the mouse in an empty toilet roll tube & parked it right outside the entrance of his hide.. I checked on him ten mins later & it had gone !

The bp will be fine for a while yet, little ones can easiliey go at least 3 monthes without feeding, with 6 monthes not uncommon. Adlut bp's can reach 9 monthes without you having to get really worried, with some going 15 monthes before their health starts to detiarate.
