I got a rtboa a few days ago ( she came w/ th ecage and all, it was a homemade cage) They did inform me that the glass in front does have to be changed before she gets much bigger.
What glass thickness do I need to get? I want one that will be good for th erest or her life, so what thickness would be good for a 8-11 ft snake?
I am pretty happy w/ the cage, a few adjustments have tobe made. I am redoing the top ( its all screen) I am going to get glass to cover about half of it, and one side is going to have the screen still for the CHE and light stuff, and th eother side, I am thinking strong plexiglass with holes carced init. This is for ventilation, I want air to be able to get in one 2 sides of th etank. ( i read somewhere that this is good for air flow.)
Cage locks. Right now, th edoor is screwed in. It is a tight fit, but once she gets bigger, i just want to make sure its strong. Plus, the harder it is for me to get in a cage, the more I'll be tempted to change her water a little later, so I want to get into her cage w/o having to unscrew a lit of screws. I have an idea for that- i am not tool-literate, but what I was looking at was like a padlock sytem on sheds, one for the top part of the cage and one for the bottom.
Now, the cage that was made has, I believe its plywood ( compressed stuff) its been painted... I believe I read somewhere that this wood could warp due to high humidity.. if that is true, what type of wood can I replace it with? ( i know me and my b/f can rebuild it, due to faulty measurements, we ended up having to take th ewhole cage apart to get it in my apartment. And then the wood would have tobe sealed, correct? *if so, suggestions are appreciated!*
I do have a large tupperwear thingy that will house her for when I do the revamping, ( I bought it for her feeding tank, its plenty big- almost as long as her cage is now) and when I do these changes ( will be very soon) it will only take one day, so she won't be homeless for long at all.
I am sure I read info posted before, but I skimmed through th eforum quickly and didn't find something that dealt w/ glass thickness, and my eye strain is kicking up, so i dont want to read much more.
thanx in advance!
