Ok, I amhaving issues w/ my boa's humidity in her tank.
It is low... I have been misting her cage and placing a damp towel over 3-4 of her top. ( the top is going tobe switched to being closed, wood with holes in one side)
I have a few questions.
I read about humid hides or placing a damp towel in th ecage. If I put a damp towel in th ecage or th ehumid hide, even if I use dwarm water to dampen it, it will eventually get cold- so where would I place the towel/hide? If its on the cold side, and she lays in/on it, wont that just make her very cold? Would it stay warmer if I place it on the warm side? I am guessing it would, but not sure.
I do use a CHE. but since my cage is 5ft tall, I need exrta heat sourse. The CHE i am using now is the 250 watt, and I use a light as well. I know th elight helps lower the humidity, so should I just buy another CHE 250 watt? My only issue with that is the temps do not rise up to my desired degree unless th elight is on even with the CHE on... it doesn't really seem that the CHE does much of anything ( i know it helps the ambient air) Maybe I just need tomove the CHE lower in her cage... but i'd hate to take away her climbing space.
I am aware of humimat things... have any of yous used them?
Also, this is a big issue with the humidity escaping. The cage is not air tight. Since its made out of wood, there are some minor gaps in it ( nothing really noticable, but I know humidity can get lost) What would be a good way to seal the wooden cage? What aboutpond liners, or something that is made to be able to hold water- would covering the door ends with that work? LOL, any inout or suggestions arw welcomed!
thanx in advance!
