i haven't got close enuph to her for any length of time to measure her but i would say 3-4 inches i suck at measurements but she eats every time there is any food around and sometimes will take two crickets at a time!

is that a boy or a girl? anancy's behind is huge so i am thinkin girlie! i held her (let her walk over my hand) when i cleaned her out but anything moves and she bites it! she will only warn you sometimes! she sits in her viv and i sware she is swearing at me and muttering death threats! but nearer her next clean out i will let her have a wonder on my hands! it has taken me a while to get used to her but i am starting to see her personality properly i will just make sure she has been well fed before next time lol! saw the pics of the red knee too! i really want one!

It's a she apperantley, but i'm not a big fan. She's ok if i handle her say twice a year but thats it. Have to admit she is a good spider, much better then the bird eater he has, wouldn't dream of putting my hand in their though, their deadly.

goliath birdeaters are great spiders not a handling type of spider my 2 are only young ones got a 5 inch leg span other got a 4 inch legspan they have appetites to match lol they eat 3 adult locusts each a week spiderlings are aren't that hard to raise but it depends on species as some are hardier than others the main thing is spiderlings dehydrate very quickly as they are so small so their substrate needs to be kept moist, the best spiderling to start out with in my opinion are red knees, usambara orange, curly hair as these are all very hardy spiders and fast growing lee

Ste used to have a curley hair spider, their all black and are retarded, it never stayed still and was alway's climbing up the walls of the viv he was in, absolutley cracked it was.
You could handle it though, but you needed to be quick.

i have been reading about them too! but i have my heart set on a red knee! i wanna have it form a spiderling tho as i got anancy as an adult! i am sure anancy is retarded i wached her climb up the side of her viv and slowly slide don untill her bottom was in her water dish! and she did this repeatedly for at least 2 days!
oh and tim has become facinated by the dog! everytime pablo walks past he is right up against the viv and follows him lol now that wouls be a wierd relationship! lol

ok i have tracked down a spiderling! mexican red knee 1-2 cm will a tupperware box be sufficient to keep him/her in or will it need to be bigger? and what kind of substitrate would you reccomend for her/him and is it ok to keep pin head crickets in with the bigger ones that anacy eats? or will they kill each other? i know they need to be kept humid but is a heat mat to much for a lil one? i am doing my own research but there are a lot of conflicting ideas! anywho any advice would be great!!! thank you xx

hi christine red knees are great spiderlings to start with but they are very slow growing species but are very resilient so thats good,i used jars to raise my spiderling(baby food jars are excellent) with a few holes pierced in the lid the best substrate ive found to use id a vermiculite or spaghnum moss and sprayed once a day is sufficient for humidity feeding is not a problem as most spiderlings are willing feeders on pinhead crickets or fruitfly all the best lee
