Well I picked this little chap up from a car park on Tuesday. He was so weak that he had his eyes closed and wasnt moving Hes all skin and bone. I took him home and gave him some kitten formula milk and a nice warm bed. Took him the vet yesterday and he was de-flead, wormed and we got some cream for his sore eyes (they were all swolen shut). The vet said he was probably on his last legs when I found him and hes abbout 4-5 weeks old (you were right Dave ). He was given some kitten food last night and ate it like hed never seen a meal in his life. Chance (my dog) is not too impressed with him at the moment so Im keeping them apart for now. If he doesnt get used to him then I have someone that can take him in 2-3 weeks. So anyway, here he is... Anyone with any kitten tips is more than welcome to post them as ive never had a cat before. Especially tips on using the litter tray

that kitten probably would still be suckling on mum at this age so im glad hes drinking milk, also glad hes had kitten food cos at that age again there not likely to eat! my kitten got put into the litter tray an went first time, since then weve had no acidents an hes as good as gold with using one! put the kitten in a room with no brakable objects an no stuff you dont wanna loose, my parents have seen my room as that place an now im suffering for it lol introduce the dog but dont let it to near just let them see each other whilst restraining both the dog an kitten, do this in a few weeks though so you dont scare the kitten. any problems just put em here an il let ya know if i can help!

Same advice as dave gave. Don't give up on the dog/cat relationship as you can bring a cat to a dog (it might take a week or 3 for the dog to be happy), but you can't bring a dog to a cat (it's a terorty thing, with cats being more teratorial then dogs).
Good luck and good on you, keep us updated as i like a happy ending (especially with strays/unwanted pets).

theres so many strays these days though, in my paper there was a story about a kitten getting hung by its legs in a tree an left to starve to death, what a ******* bad thing to do to an animal an if i ever caught the ******* i would kill them!!!!!

Well you will need a heat mat to keep him warm he will take a pinkie every five day at that age and he needs two hides...... OOPs wrong care sheet ;D. He is so cute hope he is alright and the dog becomes alright with him. Our cat disappeared a while ago but the dog knew who was boss. She was a small cat but she lay right in the middle of the huge dog bed and the dog usually ended up on the floor.

Hi,
What a sweet kitty! I like Shrimply's picture with the dog too!
Our dog found 4 kittens in the forest behind our old house (probably dumped by some @??!!!#!)
We already had a litterbox for our older cat, so we just had to buy a few more. Cats are pretty clean (unless they get kidney problems or diabetes, which in older cats is not uncommon). So if they have an accident, scoop it up and put it in the litterbox and then put the kitty in there. She'll get it pretty quickly.
Keeping the breakables away is a very important remark. Breakables (including your glass of water or beer). That also counts for small objects that you don't want them to play with and then get lost under a couch. They're rascals, yet impossible to get angry at.
We managed to talk my mum into taking two of the kittens and we also kept two.
One other thing about cats. Like I said before, older cats often get urinary problems and/or diabetes (however you spell that). 3 of our older cats in the past died of one or the other.
We strongly believe that it is because of the ingredients of (particularly) cheaper cat food (too much sugar and too little real meat; cats are on top of the food chain, like snakes, so the meatier the better). So we feed them Royal Canine, but Nature's recipe and Iams may be good too. It also depends on what your cat will allow you to serve him (note that you are his servant!) You can ask the vet, but they may try to get you to buy something they endorse or that is prescription only and therefore outrageously expensive.
I would start young with quality food.
Anyway, that's my two pennies worth. Other than that, with a string of wool you can have hours of fun now... ;D

Here is the feline gang, stalking the unsuspecting goldfish. They occasionally like to stalk the snakes too, depending on how much the snakes move around...

Well after a few days of messy carpet I got some puppy training spray and sprayed it on the litter. He took to it right away so we have now moved him into the front room as he has loads of space to run around (even though he spends most his time under the couch). I held him for about an hour last nite with the dog in the same room, Chance soon got bored and just lay on the floor. I think he will be ok, im letting him have a good sniff round the cats bed etc to get used to the smell. Hes eating like a pig, mum even brough fresh salmon round for him!! I give him those kitten meat pouches, some scrambled egg to increase his weight and just small bits of chicken ets. Also still give him kitten formula milk to build up the vitamins he may be lacking. He is proving to be a sweet little thing, loves cuddles. I swear I have never heard a cat purr so loud!! Thanks for the advice everyone, I will keep you all posted with his progress

Well I (or should I say we) would really like to. We will see how things go for the next two weeks. If we cant keep him he has a new home waiting for him
