Due to a recent scare I think it is important that everyone is aware of IBD especially those with Boas and Pythons or those who intend to purchase them. IBD is a lethal and incuarable virus and once in your collection will quickly spread and no doubt result in all you boas/pythons having tho be euthanised as there is no cure. The main symptom is star gazing which initally lead me to believe one of my JCP's had it. Fortunatly is was just an RI which can be easily cleared. It is a virus that is more commanly found in Boas but also found in Pythons, Pythons will deteriorate more quicky but death is the final phase for both species. It can be picked up from handling infected animals, adding an infected animal to your collection or any other contact you have with the virus and your own collection. Anyway here is the link, PLEASE READ www.anapsid.org/ibd.htmlIf you want to read more do a search on Yahoo for Inclusion Body Disease, or a search for star gazing to see how closly related the two are.
