Hi everybody, I'm new Anyhoo, I have had my snake for a little over 6 months now, I adopted her from a rescue agency, I believe she is somewhere between 2 or 3, I'm considering taking her to a vet to do a blood test and find out if she's actually a she. 'Her' name is Narcissa, she's albino, and yadda-yadda, i'll just show some pictures. sorry about the flash. That's her she's about 4' according to the last skin she shed. this is a more recent photo, she looks soo happy!

Glad you made it, as to the sex, that can be done by a good breeder who knows how to probe a snake, or a reptile vet. As to the shed size, we normally take off about 15% from the shed size for more accurate "actual size".
Welcome to the forum and i hope you enjoy it here.

I know basically how to do it, you apply pressure to both sides of the snake at the vent and you use your thumb and press up on the underside... and if something comes out... it's a male and if there's nothing there it's a female. When I did it nothing came out so I figure it's a girl, but I'm still not sure if I did it right, I was going by pictures to learn how.

Hello Kyle welcome to the forum. What you are describing is popping and i understand that should only be done on young hatchlings as it can injure older snakes. Probing is the method that is best for bigger snakes and best done by someone thats knows exactly what they are doing as this can injure the snakes if not done properly. Hope you get it sexed properly, i have one i need sexed too.

Debs is right, it should be probbed at this size and not popped. And unless your shown how to do it properley, it should only be done by someone experianced.
I can do both methods, but i won't pop a snake as their is a chance the hemipennus will stay out and need amputating. I also won't probe any snake thats any less then 18 inches long, actual size (21" shed size). If your from lancashire or manchester i can do it for you for nothing. Any further and i charge travel expences and a coffee :-).

Yeah, I really love her colors, especially the yellow that continues down the sides. I love that my book calls it a butter-corn... it makes me hungry pretty often. I know it's cheesy and just the shape of her mouth.. but when she's feeding she looks like she's grinning and I think it's the most adorable thing, it's even better when she eats them backwards, because I see her sweet grinning face and also the cute fluffy mouse's face. ;D
