Please help me people, i think its self explanitary, but, the people at RSPCA are trying to take are reptiles away. We have just signed a petition on the Internet - Change RSPCA policy against keeping pets . You can find the details at www.petitionthem.com/default.asp?sect=sign&pet=994. See if you would like to support the cause, we think it is worthwhile. You may also see other petitions at the site you want to support, or you may want to start your own petition - the service is totally free.

I've just signed there, it certainly is a bit outdated but I don't think they'll be banging down our doors to recaputure all our little friends. Wonder if the same thinking applies in Scotland where we have the SSPCA.

Son't know but they are doing something similar in Ohio, but they are using a licencing system where each reptile/amphib/snakes cost around $100 a year EACH.

what they gonna do with everyones snakes if they came and took them away? they couldnt release them into there natural habitat as that would cause problems with an over run of snakes...it would put natures balance off wouldnt it? they gonna take everyones snakes and put them in "safe" shelters...ha

Yup they'll have to knock my door down and get through me and my dog Millie before they get anywhere near mine.
At least snakes don't poo on the pavement - I would say that's worse.

Maybee, but i think it rns deeper then that.
If they want to "garentee" that snakes/reptiles and amphibians are being taken care of properley, then i think a national registor will work better with every owner having to pay, say £20 a year for a licence to keep them. I would pay it, so that if anyone wanted to check on mine, be it the rspca or other organiseations, they would be welcome to come and check them.
What do you guys think?

Don't kow keith, but i do know they are trying something in Ohio i think it's Ohio, where they are trying to enforce a license per every reptile/amphib and snake you have, from what i understand it's about $50 per animal, and if you sell them or breed its a vets trip and for every new animal/neonite it's the same price again.
Where about in the US are you from Keith?

Massachusetts, which requires licenses (for vaccinations) for dogs, cats, and ferrets. You need a special permit for poisonous reptiles, but snakes such as corns and pythons are sold everywhere. The way things are, though, a yearly license to keep Hashmeer and Skye wouldn't suprise me. Hell, it costs me $53.75 per year to "use" my car.
