I put Granite into her new viv on Friday night and she sees to love it. She has explored her branches the last two nights. However I just went in to change her water and it is the first time I have disturbed her as she was hiding behind her bowl. She actually climbed out of the viv so I gently picked her back up and after stopping her moving up my sleeve I placed her back in and she happily slithered to the back of the viv.
But then suddenly she changed. She started shaking her tail and striking at me. She never got me but she has got a powerful strike it looks just like those venomous snakes you see on TV she flattened her body completely out and lunged herself at every movement. I hurriedly closed the doors and sat back but even two foot back every time I made the slightest movement she struck.
Needless to say I never got her water changed I will have to weight till she chooses somewhere else to hide. It was just strange how she changed so quickly. I guess she needs more time to settle in.

Snakes are strange... how old is she?
Akasha did things similar to that a few times when she was about 1 1/2. I'm thinking snakes have their teenage phase too?

Sounds familiar, lol. My chocky did the same when he moved into the viv he's in now. He still goes nut's when i do a "full" clean out (tonight), so he'll be rattleing and striking for about 2 days.
I just put it down to the change over, weather a clean or a move, after all we get stressed if we move house don't we?

Yeah she has her moments she is usually so calm but nothing like my other one.
I have had her strike at me a day after feeding day when she hadn't been fed ( put this down to her being hungry)
She took a mental when I fed her at about ten o'clock one night ( John assured me this is perfectly normal but my other one would never attack mice in such a way)
And then yesterday. She has always aggresive feeder when I use tongs which is not often. I don't mind it is nice to have a snake with character even if she is unpredictable
