Why doesn't my lad come out and about during the evenings? After 9pm it's very quiet in the room and there is only a lamp on, yet Dave never makes an appearence. I've seen pictures of other people's snakes on their logs etc and would love to see Dave like this. He is now 6 months old and has been in his new viv for 3 weeks.

Shyness is the anwser here. He's only a baby yet and is probabley coming out later (probabley when your in bed, unless your like me and up till after 2 most nights, lol).
As long as he's eating, drinking, and is fine whilst being handled then i think their isn't a problem, he just likes the peace and quiet thats all.

It took my snake 1 year to start coming out a lot. My snake also doesn't like movement so when I walk in my room he'll stare at me for a bit and maybe go back into his hide. So it might be movement in that room? Or he's just being shy at the moment.

My cornsnake is hardly ever out, she isn't shy so much as she likes sleeping in dark places.
