OK, so I feed Hashmeer and Skye mice. I was wondering what else they can eat, maybe something as a special meal once in awhile.

As an adult i recomend chicks (they are venus's main diet) or the snake steak sausages, if your snakes will eat them, as some snakes will and some wont.

Its best just to stick to their normal diet of mice.

Their stomachs are designed to digest meat and bone not eggs only the egg eating snakes stomach will digest eggs.

Its best to sick to feeding them the same thing if possible. If they are happy eating mice then continue feeding mice. I would only advise to offer something else if you snake is not readily taking mice (or whatever you currently feed)
A snake does not understand that you are offereing a 'treat' and may refuse the feed which in extreme cases may cause you to have a few feeding problems in the following weeks.

I think a small gerbil would be ok for a adult corn.

I think a small gerbil would be ok for a adult corn. but only once in a great while. very high in fat and not goo for nutrients some snakes may even give you a problem eating anything else afterwards. one of my boas did that. he wanted the snake candy all the time. but he didnt get it

The main reason you should try something else is if your snake stop's eating, i don't mean 4-5 week, i mean like 3 monthe's or more, thats why venus is fed chick's as she hadn't eaten for nearley 3 monthes when i got her and for another 3-4 weeks after i got her.
Tried a chick and she has never looked back.

i agree totally with john. but when i got chance i swore to myself if i could make her better she would have anything her littl heart desired. so sometimes i go over board john one time try putting the rat/mouse in chicken broth, then feed it to venus. that works alot to get them switched over.

I'll try that and see what result's i get, you never know it might work better then scenting (which didn't work for 3 weeks).
I might just try a chick head with a medium mouse attached somehow, i'll have to think about he to attach them though.....

we have switched snakes over by giving them what they want and as soon as they were done shoved the prey item you want in thier mouth next. rob does that at the pet shop. he has got lizard eating snakes switched over to mice/rats that way but that seems kind of hard. i like the chicken broth thing best.

I'll be trying the chicken broth over the next 4-6 weeks to see if i can swap it over.
Finger's crossed.
