Dont know if there is anyone from northern ireland on here but going to ask anyway. I have been looking for either mahogany or oak coloured conti board and cant find any. I have checked homebase and B+Q they have all the light colours but none dark. I was hoping to get my viv unit started but looks like im going to have to take a lighter colour than i wished. I have seen vivs made from dark conti on other forums but i suppose they are all in England and from shops that we dont have.

The only option Debs is to order from live food and get a ready made viv like mine and vicki's and muphestos and whoever else has 1. I know Muphesto has a brown 1 (sorry no good with colours) and i have a black 1, they are good viv's and www.livefood.co.uk do deliver to Northern Ireland as far as i know.

oh no john ur 100% right lol. im that bad that at the weekend i built myself a bed frame out of wood for just over £35. its solid and perfect to my requirements, i grudge paying over 100 quid for something i could do and did do myself...just wish i knew how cheap it is to make a viv before i went and bot mine but ah well the snakes are worth it after all

What wood did you use for the bed? My base is nackered and i could do with a big saving on it, and get my brother to put it together for me.

My vivs are made from black effect conti board but agree making would be better cost wise, but time would be an issue

Think i`ll go with the white conti and use paint and grain then a coat of varnish. Have any of you ever used paint and grain? I have and i find it great my girls wanted new pine furniture for their bedroom but i couldn`t afford to throw out what they had for new so we paint and grained it and i think it looks great would just think it was bought like that. The mahogany in it seems very "red" so i think i may just go for the limed oak colour. This is giving me a kinda headache as i am trying to do this as good as i possibly can as it will be their home(snakes) for ever more i hope.Do you think 36"x 18" x 18" is enough space for them when adult cause i can change the sizes now before i start?

I would do it 48-18-18 or 42-18-24 wide. But thats just me, how many snakes per viv Deb's? for just the 1 your size would be fine, but for 2 snakes i would go with the 48" model.
