thnx guys i'll post some pics soon but i have a question, how long does it normally take for ur ball python to swallow the mouse cuz it lloked like he was struggling to get the leg in his mouth and the mouses head was sideways and he took ages to get it right so it took him 55 minutes to swallow it, is this normal ?

Well none of mine take that long, but it might be normal for your ball python, you'll have to watch him the next few times he eats too.

thnx for the info i think it was just a bit of a dodgy position the mouse was in that made him take so long:)

As he's a baby he might struggle the first few times till he adjusts to being fed regulary and has grown on a little. Just give him a little time and he'll be ok, soon be hammering a mouse down in 5 or 6 mins.

here is a pic of him, he's having a bad shed at the mo cuz the place i got him from (pet shop) didnt keep his humidit anywhere near where it should be but with the one day he's been with me he's shed more than in a whole week at the shop so im happy

If i were you i would spray in the viv to keep the humidity relativley high (about 50-60% i think for a bp). Also this explains why he strugled with the mouse, when a snake (any snake) is in shed the skin is tighter then usual, and it's not really recomended to feed during a shed because of this.
Not having a go, just letting you know from experiance thats all, soe times it's better to wait to feed then to actually feed on a dedicated schedule (like when a snake is shedding).

yeh the humidity is at 60-65 and i have read that its ok to feed them when theyre shedding as long as theyre interested but i'll not do it again thnx for the info. :-)

Mine often eat when in shed, but then I often don't bother offering them food incase they reject it.

Leave him nother 24 hours then see if their is any shed left. Some times a little time is all that is required.
