OK I have loads to tell you all and a few questions and opinions. It would appear I have been saving up.

Firstly my oldest corn is really jumpy at the minute. Not aggressive but really really jumpy. So much so I can hardly get him out the viv. Now I presume this is to do with the mating season and am not too worried but thought I had better make sure I am right. He squirms all over the place but after a few minutes he calms down. Similar behavior as when he is newly shed but much more exaggerated.

OK second question I made £80 lambing over my easter holidays and hope to use it to build my snake a new viv but the money will buy all the things for making the viv but I am going to struggle to buy the extras e.g thermostat, light guard, etc. , etc. I am looking for cheap alternatives that anyone has used. The prices include melamine faced chipboard and toughened safety glass which in my opinion is way over priced costing nearly half the budget. Anyone have any money saving tips?

Here is number three. What do you think of my new hides? I picked them up during a walk yesterday and they are perfect. after they have been debugged Granite can have them. I am really pleased with this find as I have never seen anything like it. I think I might have some deer to thank.



And last but not least anyone think Granite is a funny colour. Instead of the dark brown I was expecting her to turn she is getting lighter with every shed. To me she appears to look more like a charcoal which she can't be due to the large amount of yellow pigment down her side. She also looks a bit ghost like but they hatch light, I think,whereas she hatched out like a normal Anery. I bet I am just being stupid but what do you think?







Finally everyone wish me luck as my exams start next week and I have been promised a new snake if I do well. I am actually angling for a puppy but there is no chance of that.

Firstly i think you are probably right in thinking its the season that is making your snake jumpy he has just one thing on his mind,,loveeeee.
Secondly what size of viv you thinking of making? yes the glass can be the killer where price is concerned.I`m sorry i can`t be much help here.
Thirdly yes your new hides seem good just make sure you wash them well in a bleach solution and rinse well and leave to day for few days i use airing cupboard for drying.
As for the colour of your snake i think its magnificent, i have anerys and would just love that one of yours. I`m not great on the fancy morphes but i`m sure John or someone will be able to tell you what it might be.

Grinie is a ghost corn i think (90% sure anyway looking at the latest pic's0, which is basicaley a snery with a lot of yellow in and more gray bits.

The bark hides are fine, just pop em the microwave for 1 min each anf leave to cool, this kill any possable parasite's (and year i do this myself every 6 monthes, just to be safe).

Onto the big question, the VIV!!

As to the wood, i would use hardwood or mdf, eather will be fine, but make sure it is melomine covered, if not, don't pannic their are some safe gloss's you can use, so let me know if you want a couple of recomendations.

As to the glass, i can't help. But i would suggest building the viv 18 high, and having a 4 inch peace of wood at the bottum, and 4 inch at the top, this will reduce the amount of glass beeded and add support yo the overall viv. I would aslo do the same for the side's, add a 3 inch peace each side so it can be 6 inches smaller in lenght. The whole lot should cost at most 60-70 quid, but you might be able t get it for as little as 40 including glass.

The hides were in the oven for half an hour last night and I gave them a soak in bleach this morning so once they fully dry out they are ready to go.

The viv is 4' by 2' by 20" and will house my corn until I get a python big enough to go in it. The price includes runners and soft fit vents which I can pick up at B&Q for very little.I had thought about MDF coated in yacht varnish but although it will rapidly cut the price it won't look that great. I really want as big a viewing space as possible so I the glass size I got priced were 350mm by 650mm and are £15 each which means £30 for the viv. The wood came to £40 altogether.

As for Granite I agree she looks like a ghost but as a hatchling she looked nothing like the ghost hatchling pick I have seen. Pic below.
