How do you tell if your snake is male or female by the tail I forgot?

i dont think its a very accurate way of telling but i may be wrong
its by how fast the tale tapers at the vent i think?
for a male its a gradual taper so it looks like its grudally going into a point
for a female its a sudden taper where at the vent it suddenly becomes very tapered/pointed
i may have it the wrong way round tho so wait and see what someone else says

On this forum under 'breeding' i put a post about this. I have put pics of both my male and female on there. The Amel is female and the Anery is male. I didnt have a clue how to tell but now i can see that it is very obvious in both my snakes. Although its now quite as obvious wil all snakes. The above post should help though.

Paul right, no taper is a male and a fast taper is a female. Both tapers start streaght after the vent. For example this is apparentley a female, and i agree This is more likley to be a male, and thats my opinion because of the way the tail is streaght.

John im with you, the top is a girl and the bottom a boy. Looking at tapering is how I've sexed smithers, I don't have the heard to put a probe up his bottom! I know I wouldn't like it.

Those arn't my pic's, i erm kinda borowed em, ah em. They are good examples though, and you can clearley tell the differance. Emma probing doesn't hurt (i am led to believe this by "experts" and big time breeders in the US). Apparentley it feels similar to a manual, but being male I cant tell if this hurts, or is just uncomfortable, but i was reasured it's just uncomfortable. Some enlightenment would be handy if not to embarasing, as i don't want to embarass people , just learn more about this side of things (snake wise i mean).

There is actually a very profound different in the tails. The tail taper is important, but look more closely at the very tip of the tail. Males will generally have a very "pointy" tail. Females a more blunt or rounded tail.
