Been offline for a while due to a computer virus. Anyway here I am so quick update for you all. Now I am on holiday for 7 weeks hopefully I will be on more often. Both snakes are happy and healthy. Compost has been moved into his new viv and loves it. Pics to follow. Granite has been moved into composts old viv so she got use of the shelf(which she loves) and I didn't have to fiddle about with the heat mat. This means I have a spare viv. And have been considering some different snakes. The man at the reptile shop has recently been landed with 28 yellow anacondas which are rather cute. And at £20 each I can actually afford them however I know they are nasty little buggers but I like a challenge. I can't really see myself getting one but now I am 16 my parents can't actually stop me . I am much more interested in a dwarf boa but am looking at £200 for the snake alone. I am open to other suggestions though. Compost had a period where he was refusing to eat a second mouse. However that seems to have sorted itself out now he has moved. Maybe he just felt there wasn't room in his old house ;D Anyway my exams went well so fingers crossed I will be allowed my new snakes. I anything interested has happened when I have been away please let me know.

Welcome back, and congrats on finishing your exams and fingers crossed you get the results you want.
Yellow conda? do you know how big they get and the viv size you need as an adult? Think burm python and thats what your looking at, i'd go for the boa, eather a dwarfe or a full size boa, and don't forget male boa's get to between 6-8foot long and females usually get to aroung 10foot long, with the odd 1 hitting nearer 14.
Glad to here the corns are doing well.
Whats new? Well for me i've got eggs now in the incubator, got a new viv stack and have just (thursday) put an application form in to see if i qualifie for a zoology degree with the main subject being reptile and amphibian husbandry, biology and general care, then i might go on to do a vets degree but well have to wait and see how things go first, lol.
Anyway welcome back.

Thanks john. The yellow anaconda would fit into the 4ft by 2ft for quite a while before it needed a bigger cage. However as I said it is just a dream maybe some day. Also feel sorry for the little fellas. They were bred at Edinburgh's butterfly world but they can't get homes for them.
Since I can't fit a full sized boa into my 4ft viv (or could I if I got a male ?) I am more likely to go for the dawrf even though I would rather have a bigger snake it is unfair to get one when I don't have the room.
Glad to here everything is going well and good luck.

20 quid each for yellow condas? can he TNT them or courier them..id be well up for a pair id go for the dwarf boa as john said...even a male BCI would be handleable as only get 8ft max but you do get bigger individuals and would get smaller than yellow anacondas

Lee, the shops name is Border Exotics and the number is 01896 754777. The guy is nice and very helpful. I know he gets deliveries from TNT every week so it is possible that he will be able to sort something out. He won't be open until Tuesday now.
Thanks for the advice and let me know if you get a couple.

Get the anaconda haha. That'd be awsome to have. It might cost a lot for food though. It'd still be bomb to have a giant snake in your house. You can be like hey I have a 12 foot anaconda in my room.

Just son't forget that pigleys and small pigs ae used as food and not ideal for freezing in large quantaties. Or a calf if your feeding on a 5-6 weeks week schedule.

Is that not a slight Exacheration john? I imagine that a yellow conda probably wouldn't get to much above rabbits.

Maybee a piglet for a change but rabbits should be fien for a yellow. Been a green conda then a calf is a deffinate option. Probabley a large rabbit every 2 weeks should be fine for a fully grown yellow anaconda, but i havn't looked into them that much tbh.

o.0 Ok, I heard of big snakes eating cute little bunnies... but a calf? or a piglet? they are just too cute! Oh my... that will definatly be a snake that I will not own! I wouldn't even get a snake that would require a cute little bunny! LOL, I am just able to deal with the rat/mice feeding, tho I get yelled at by my b/f for wanting to play with the mice when our python refused food for a little. But I know what its like to want a pet, just remember, you do have the rest of your life to get an anaconda, I would suggest to just not rush into it ( which I am sure you aren't). I am sure that if you truely want the anaconda, you will own it at some point in your life. Just be thankful your parents let you have a snake, my mom would not allow it- even when I was 24 years old and still living at home. LOL. Now that I am out of her house, i can finally have the pets I want. Best of luck! edf

I could feed bunnies to snakes. But if bunnies were carnivorous and needed to eat snakes.....Now that I would not do because snakes are ultimate and bunnies are not. ;D

You know some of these animals are bred at the same place they breed animals for experimenting on. I think I would prefer the quick death and frozen for snakes rather then spending my live getting needles in me. so every bunny you feed your snake has been saved from a horrible live. Think about it like that.

Shrimply- yeah, it is better if you think about it like that...but still.... I used to have bunnies growing up.... so I think bunnies are cute as well. Yeah, I would prefer the quick death too as apposed to the experementation, and maybe frozen ones wouldn't be too bad to have to feed to a snake... but I don't know. LOL, its not like I am going to geta snake that requires a food item that big... at least not for a while if that time even comes. I'll just stick with my python and corn for th etime being. edf

I'll be feeding my 2 boa's bunnies, probabley next year if not this year for my female, but i need to order them in specially, so 10 at a time will do.
I've kept bunnies and have a pet rabbit at the min, but thats what she is a pet, the ones for the snakes will be food items, nothing more, so i can detatch my emotions from them.
