hi my name is lisa I hust bought a albino cornsnake i have a question? when they eat is it normal to be able to see his food that he is breaking down in his belly its kinda broken down into like three pieces..he is a juvinlie...just curious i am a newbie at snakes so i am just trying to get any info that i can if any advice feel free to write me back..thank you

Hi Lisa, welcome to the forum.
Do you mean like 3 seperate lumps thats connected? (1 food item i presume you mean). If so then what you are seeing s the hinds legs, the front shoulders, and the main body inbetween as those are the widest points and the joints connecting the area's are the first to get broken down by the stomac acids and protiens, untill they collapse (shoulders cometogether, ribcage cruches and the back legs fold in and span on themselfs). This can take from 3-4 hours, right up to more then 24 hours depending on the food item size. An adult corn on a large mouse for example, will break the mouse down in approx 8-12 hours then start the "full" bone and cartalige digestion along with the skin and internal organs of the mouse.
