NEWS RELEASE The Center for North American Herpetology Lawrence, Kansas www.cnah.org 6 March 2005 Snake Snare Snaps Spines Device Designed to Decapitate As if the general public’s view on snakes were not already bad enough, a company called SnakeSnare, LLC, in Iowa has taken it to the next level. "SnakeSnare" is a device designed to intentionally decapitate wild snakes. "SnakeSnare" is marketed on the internet and promotes use in areas like neighborhoods and golf courses, "Where gunfire is impractical or illegal." The website mentions that the product "can" capture a snake for relocation, but is actually designed for "instant decapitation." The marketing of the product seems to promote extermination of wild snakes, and the site actually quotes the old adage "a good snake is a dead snake." If you would like to voice your concerns about this product and it’s marketing objectives, please see their website at www.snakesnare.com and voice your concerns. They seem to think venomous snakes are evil and would kill someone without hesitation. Venomous snakes bite to defend themselves and most venomous species have their own way of warning one if one gets to close. For example the rattlesnake rattles its tail and others make loud hissing noises.
If you ever get bit by a snake its your fault not the snakes.

Sorry it took so long, worked a 12hr shift. I've signed.
If people see a snake they should just call animal control, or someone else who is qualified to relocate the snake. There are already too many wild species endangered or close to extinction. Including the Black Rat Snake, which is listed as endangered in Massachusetts (where I live). People mistake it for a Timber Rattler and kill it.
That device is cruel. If I were rich I'd buy them out just to destroy them all.
