Yeah i know steve vai, my uncle went to one of his concerts years ago. Have you got the satch DVD, around 3 hours of uninterupted guitar play, and worth every bloody penny and then some.

I've gotta give it up to the classic guitar players. They started it all. My personal influences are Kerry King from Slayer, the late Dimebag Darrell of Pantera, Gary Hoey, Joe Satriani, and a bunch of other guitarists from death metal bands such as Obituary, Death, Deicide, and Suffocation to name a few. There's probably some I'm forgetting, as I'm very tired at the moment.
When Dimebag Darrell was killed onstage back in December I was completely devistated. I was watching a memorial show on Headbanger's Ball and cried when they played "Cemetary Gates". Kinda cheesy, I'll admit, but his music career carried over into a lot of my adolesence, helped me deal with growing up. Anyone else ever felt that way about a musician?

Stevie Ray Vaughans version of little wing hit me real hard, it taught me to put feel into my playing, although it wasn't his song origanaly it was a lot more "live" and in the recording you can hear the amp buzzing! his death is a big loss to the blues scene! Another person who i had a lot of respect for was Johnny Cash, he had just released his version of Hurt (origanally by trent reznor's nine inch nails) when he died, his last album was a real ending to his career as it had all the songs that hit people deep inside!

No lessons here, either. I just try to memorize tab, then play along with the song. Or I'll load a beat or two into Fruity Loops and jam.
