I have an amel cornsnake right now, and my girlfriend wants a snow that we saw at a local pet place, I was wondering if itd be ok to have them in the same home? mine is about 2 feet long, and the one she wants is a baby.. very skinny.. young enough to where the owners of the petstore keep him hidden so hes not startled. would this be ok, or should she keep him in a small aquarium thing for a few weeks? also will there be any feeding issues? thanks alot

Personally I would keep them apart. Unless they are the same size its risky. You could end up with the larger one attacking or infact eating the smaller one. Although is a small chance of this happening, is it really worth the risk? I would say they would be happier in seperate vivs until they reach maturity ;D

I'm with Vicki the size differance is to much. 2 years down the line then yeah house them together, but a 20 and a 10 inche snake together (approx size gues on my part) it really isn't worth it inho.

im also with john and vicky i tryed the same thing and iv had nothing but trubble as most people know on this site lol its just not worth the stress for you or your snakes. Id only get one if you are prepared to bye it its own viv. plus without being disrespectfull dont lissen to the pet shop owner when they tell you it will be fine as they are at the end of the day running a business.

I agree, not a good idea.
I house my 2 adults together & they seem fine but even this isnt reccomended. I am now looking into separating them.
I have heard of bigger snakes eating little ones, so to be on safe side dont risk it,

thats right really, if they are that different in size then its just not a good idea. most people will tell you not to do it anyway, although i have kept corns for 15/16 years and bred plenty, i have never had any eat each other. i do keep some together, but usually only at about 3/4 months while i'm upping box sizes, or if they are breeding.

i have kept my corns together for a year now and haven't had any problems. i was always under the impresion that they could be kept together. when do most problems arise and wot are they? here are my two. when i did have to seperate them due to rafa's wound Buddy used to sleep under rafa's plastic viv excactly where rafa was sleeping, and they seamed lost without each other. now their back together they are inseprable!

The differance is Bethany, your 2 are of a similar size, like my chocky and blizzard. I think thats the main differaance, anything around 4 inch is fine, or upto to 6 inch at a push (except for adults who can be around a foot size differance, but without the fear or 1 being squashed or eaten). Yes i know canableish is VERY rare in corn snakes, but it does happen every year. Here's a link with a more "for and against" read from Kathy Love. john1979.proboards43.com/index.cgi?board=Kathy&action=display&thread=1108387005

www1.math.luc.edu/~tfuller/Snake_Cannibalism.JPGwww.priory.com/vet/vetrept1.htmJust a couple of links..I have heard many tell me they have experienced corns trying to eat eachother, mainly if feeding in the same viv. I had all sorts of abuse thrown at me when a member of another forum becoz i housed mine together..Thats the main reason I am waiting for the ££ to buy a new viv.. if it wasnt for that I wouldnt be separating as I havent experienced any major probs...

Let me gues palombo, cornsnakes.com is where you got the abuse? If it's not i'm sorry, but if it is i'm not supprised, i got a lot because i house mine together, without ANY problems i might add.

I post on there but try very hard to avoid posting on housing together threads. It is a real shame they can't just except that different people have different views.
