Hi Guys I have just brought some 'Exo-Terra snake vines.
I need some ideas on how to attach them to the viv?? It needs to be sturdy as my eldest corn is HUGE (as shown in pics i have posted) But also something that enables me to remove the vines for cleaning, as they are bound to poop on them !!
Any ideas with pic of other users of these vines...cheers guys

Not got those Vine's....Yet (plan on getting a couple). When i do get mine tho, i'll be using a bolt method (the bolt with a hole at the top) and drill a hole for the bolt, then tighten the nut so i can unscrew the lot to clean them.
Anyone else have a better way?

Can ask what is so good about them. I am happier spending 1/2 and hour in the wood fing a couple of good shaped sticks and spending nothing. That is just what I have been doing for Granite's new viv. Also I use a cable tie to attach them trough the vent at the back.

Their flexable shrimpley, and are great for a natural looking viv.

Yeah I know. Just not really my think. I prefer natuarl things. They are also cheaper I only use fake plants becuase I can't be bothered looking after real ones.lol

You can put a suction cup on the end by making a hole then attaching it.

Ah suction cups suck, my CRESTIES manage to pull their fake plants off the side of their cage. Arg. I keep almost buying those vines, my corn has a huge twisty stick thing, it bends a bit, and is just the right size to fit from one side of the cage to the other, I can take it out whenever, its awesome. Some wood from... woods looks good, but I don't think I have what I would need to properly clean it so I don't bring some strange disease into the reptiles cages. I can't be much help, really... sorry. John's bolt idea sounds like it would work well, I think. If I am imagining it right.

I have one of those vines but just in with my hatchlings i have it bent so that it sits ok and can lift it out whenever needed.I dont think they would be much use to a big fully or almost fully grown snake i much prefer a good branch for them. When i find a branch suitable i soak it in the bath for a few days in a bleach solution then i rinse it extra well and set it in the airing cupboard for a week or two until it dries completely.

Thats what i thought about the suckers, maybe they are not strong enuff.. Biggy is a fatty and is quite heavy, so maybe something stronger like the plastic tie things - (sorry cant recll what they are called !!)

Hey palombo77! I have 4 of them in my viv and if you put a couple together they look great. just put them up with a couple of cable ties. making sure that they tie on the outside of the viv. I've just posted a couple of pics of my viv in the"pics of vivs" thread and you can see buddy on them in "oh how he's grown" thread The reason that every thing in my viv is not real is that alot of the plants you can get dont do very well in the viv conditions and if you have too many the humidity goes up in there. also unfortunatley if you put the wrong sort of wood in then you could kill your snake. so to be on the safe side i only use fake, but i think that it looks just as good as any other viv!

I have to say they look alright but they don't look 100% natural but that is just my opinion.
Actually wood isn't a problem I did a lot of reasearch and basically if it isn't a softwood it is fine and you have to look for freshly fallen trees if you don't want to actually take them of a growing tree because you don't want them to be rotten. As far as I know those are the only rules.
I will get pics of Granites new viv but not yet.
