OK, so when I bought my corn, in the store it said it was a caramel corn, which is why I called it Carmello. Now I have been reading up on caramel corn snakes and looking at their pictures on line. OK, so apparently the yellow pigment is supposed to come in as he gets older, but my corn has no yellow whatsoever in him, so I don't think he's a caramel at all. Luckily I wasn't looking for a caramel specifically. I just liked this little one's colors. So it's no big deal. What I do want to know is, if he isn't a caramel, is he a "normal" from southern Florida or anything more fancy? I'll still like him just the same

He does look like a caramel to me, and a lovely example. Here is a pic of an 04 caramel so you can compare. They do vary but id say this is a standard looking caramel. When they say more yellow starts to appear, if you look along the sides of the below pic you will see that darker background with more yellow. This may start to spred so you have the darker look a bit more. But likewise most colour morphs become less bright as they grow (besides amels)

Thanks for that Vicky. They do look like they could be family. I guess I will have to wait for more yellow to come in. I was a little surprised, because the place I got him from are reknowned in the Denver area for reptiles & snakes. They don't seem like the folks who don't know what they are selling.
That is a pretty snake you show, is it yours?
I guess I don't have to rename him to Mr. Regular then...
He is in really nice shape. Every time I pick him up I look for anything weird or wrong, but he's just a pretty boy (although I still need to have him sexed properly).
Well, I'll keep telling people it's a caramel from now on.
Thanks you guys...

I look at caramels at it this way, if it's similar to an anery b, but with brown saddles, it's a 90% sure bet its a caramel.
