Yea it is mdf. I dont think i would use this again though as its a bit bendy. I am really glad i made it tho as it just uses up all that wasted space at the top of the viv. I did have a big branch in there but Amber never used it so thats why i put it in, also with having the 2 snakes in there it gives them plenty of room and allows for 5 hides, and they use all of them!!

yeh its a great idea, only concern is that mdf isnt water proof and kinda acts a bit like a sponge..absorbing moisture etc...so if you spray your viv during shedding time try to keep it away from the shelf unless of course u varnished it or covered it with something to make it water proof then ill shut up and look like a fool

Just got 1 of my shelf in for Venus, and will post a pic later once i've taken 1, it came pre varnished thanks to my brother (it's great having a joiner in the family), and it did't cost me anything.

hmm, well its a royal python in there, the light guard is on top of the viv as we used it for a while but the snake damaged her underside on it so i took it of, i payed £10 for it aswell an it wernt well made! still lookin for a good one an the light is not bein put on till theres one on there

i bot two of the ones that are on livefoods, indy has one just now and has no probs with it, all the edges are rounded off and looks ok aswell. the two wee ones can still fit inside that cage so i havnt put a light in their viv yet
reason for that if any people wonder is because if they get in they will be alot closer to the light and on a ledge, if theres no guard and they touch the light and burn themselves they can get away fast, if there stuck inside a cage and getting burned it could be alot worse. its best not to use a cage if ur pet can fit inside it

I see you all have some nice and elaborate vivs. Good work. Now for my plain and dull vivs. Here's Hashmeer's viv: Hashmeer and his plant: Skye's viv: Skye in her viv: Now be honest. I would like your opinions and suggestions for the new vivs for them. Decorations, hides, sizes for water bowls and hides, etc. We're going with 36 x 18 x 25 acrylic vivs, and we'll be switching to heat mats.

I love the plants, are they real of fake?
I would put another hide in each viv but apart from that, the only thing i would change is the astroturf stuff to asphen, but thats just me being picky about substrate, as i don't use anything else.
Skye is a good looking snake BTW, but so is hashmeer.

Yes, I know you have a soft spot for Snow Corns. In her pattern (I'll try to get a pic) all along her sides are hearts. Which is pretty cool considering she was my girlfriend's big Valentine's present.
Believe it or not the plants are fake. Skye's plant I picked up with her at Petco. Her plant is all plasic, simple and looks nice. Hashmeer's plant is all small stones at the base, real wood in the back, and plastic foliage. It was quite expensive, they're hand-made by a local company. I think it was like $45.00 US.
I have considered adding another hide in each, but I'll probably put Hashie's cave in with Skye when I get the new vivs for a quick fix. The new vivs will have at least 3 different hides. I'm having difficulty deciding on changing the substrate. I would like to use Aspen, but the astroturf is so simple to use. Adds a bit of traction, too.

they have them plants with the stones at the bottom in petssmart (pets at home whatever its called now) there for fish tanks if im right? the stones way it down and u burry them under the substrate to make it look like its growing for real, they look great in snake tanks with asphen as it looks like there growing out the ground, im gonna pick some up for indy at the weekend
