Yes all the hides are cork, not going off the subject but the 5ft holds 3 snakes that have been together for a year and love sharing the same hides most nights.
Am hoping to build a 6ft this year but will keep you posted!!!!!
The substrate is all wood chip which I find easy to clean!!!!
(The 5ft did belong to my Beardies (pics on my pics thread) but the calci sand affected my asthma!)

Hi everyone i was just wondering if you guys would be able to help me out here...i was on live food .co.uk and im getting my roayal in about a month and a breeder advised m,e to heat his viv using a ceramic heater but on livefood all i can find is the cermaic buld holder and the actual ceramic heater and i was wondering how you power the ceramic heater cos the ceramic heater holder has no power lead or anything so do you know how to set it up???
Thanks
Sam.

i like the viv, im thinking of making mine wider for my snake but will prob wait for about a year (or until i find my bloodred to go with indy ) i think i might also give wood chips another go (had them for indy in first glass viv)...i think they look better than asphen and i seem to remember liking it better..cant remember tho so will just buy a wee bit for layla and cash and see how they get on with it

Why not buy another 2 ft viv from live food Muphesto, and cut 1 side so that your 4ft and 2 ft viv can can be bridged while still having the strengh to hold everything fine? I think it is possible, but i've not looked into it in any detail.

i ment wider as in the small section..ie the side walls..instead of what thet are maybe doubling that, so really id need another 4ft to do it (which my bro has) he will need a new one for his beardie soon and i think im taking that and joining two 4ft vivs together to have one big 4 ft viv

You'll have to post pics . I may do something similar when chocky and blizzard are bigger (or if i get venus a mate ;D, ) which ever comes first.

it would be good for breeding aswell, cause i could leave the middle bit in (the front door/glass of the back viv)...then when indy breeds i can put one in the back viv and put the glass back in, making a viv at the back and a viv at the front...but i take the glass out the middle and its one big viv..im starting to like this idea alot..time to talk brother into new viv..then bank account into a bloodred

I already had a pic of my viv out there, but here it is again: I have a jade plant in there, which the snake loves to sit in and on. It's a desert plant, which means it doesn't mind being close to the basking lamp. The other two plants are ones that don't need much light, but are nice and leafy. I built a little platform in the lefthand corner out of a plank and some bamboo for posts. That is where Carmello's little cave is. The basking wood on the right is the normal fake driftwood you can buy at a pet store, because it holds up better in the heat. Nowadays the water bowl in the front is a little bit more to the left to be away from the warm side of the viv.

I really like those from livefoods. I can see some good tips there for bulding my own. I especially like the caged in heat lamp. It stops you having to find something to clamp the lamp on (and having the clamp come loose etc.)
