Welcome, Louise. You must be a fantastic and dedicated owner to nurse Chance back to health. Excellent job. I'd post some comments about the previous owner, but swearing isn't allowed here...

Swaring is fine with me but i don't own the forum so....
I do agree though the snake should never have been in that state to start with.

I do agree though the snake should never have been in that state to start with. not only the head wounds but the old owner broke her back with a blunt instrument it was healed over when i got chance. but i rub it 15 minutes a night and she really enjoys it

That poor snake sound's like it's been through the mill a few times.
The previous owner want's shooting. Was s/he prosicuted? or better still castrated? I think they should have been (castrated first, then prosicuted).

I think they should have been (castrated first, then prosicuted). the old owner dropped chance off in a pillowcase at my nephews petshop. she just came in and set the pillowcase down and said i dont want this snake. she said chance was aggressive. chance dont have a mean bone in her body! she was just starving. then the woman walked out. my nephew called me and i went and seen chance. chance had 5 layers of old shed on her. i started taking care of her at the petshop. i went everyday and would care for her. asbout 2 weeks later i went in to check on chance and it was my birtday. my nephew handed her to me and said 'happy birthday' i swore to myself on that day that i would make her life perfect from then on. that is how she got her name 2nd chance, chance for short

Sorry, but the previous owner is sick.
I've had a few in the past that were in a bad way but never "eaten" by food. I am so glad he got a second chance and a really good home.
It's been my finding that any snake can be aggressive when not handled and just laid in the viv 24/7/365, but when handled regulary they are not aggresive. Even some poisonious snakes (though i've not had the pleasure) are handle able with great care being taken, i found that out last year (the year before?) when one of the reptile personal were taking a puff adder to see the vet.
